It’s a really big iPhone with no camera. Or phone. Big whoop.
That said, it looks fun. If I ever carried around a laptop, I’d be more excited about it, but I don’t. I’m not about to give up my desktop machine, and the iPad doesn’t seem to do anything the iPhone won’t do, and the iPhone fits in my pocket.
If I were a student, it’d be pretty cool to carry around to classes and such.
You missed the best part. A chance for period jokes!

Are you saying that Strategic Conquest or Spaceward Ho on this thing wouldn’t be awesome!?!?

It seems like it could be cool, but it also seems kind of fragile. And I’m amazed they really called it iPad….
Curious to see how it’s received.

Strategic Conquest on the iPad _would_ be cool. I’m just not sure I want or need a tablet that can’t function as a general use computer – i.e. let me run any software I like on it and configure it however I want. The iPad is more like an appliance than a computer, and I’m a bit meh at the thought.
Yup – I’m with Joe on this. I love my 24″ iMac and an iPhone or Nintendo DSi are all I want on the go.

Agreed: a “tablet” that’s not a general use computer is pretty pointless. That said, I hope the iPad finally gets tablet style PC’s out of the gate from the rest of the industry. I’d love to have an affordable netbook with “convertible” touchscreen. All the pieces are out there, just want someone to put them together!

StratCon or Ho! on the iPad would be cool. Of course, they’d be cool on the iPhone, too.
I don’t think the iPad is going to kill laptops or mobile phones, but I don’t see why it shouldn’t kill the Kindle.
